Ameressence: Portraits of a Journey Across The Americas

Fede & Candice

Ameressence is an amazing art project, from two ambitious young travelers, Candice Schrapff and Fede Graciano. The two plan to travel over land from Ushuaia to Alaska (25,000 km) stopping in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, USA, Canada and Alaska.

The two will stay for a couple days in each place, meeting the local people, learning about the local culture, and sharing those experiences as they go.  What I love about this project is that it’s all about telling the story. Fede is a photographer and Candice is a writer – together they will share 52 tales (on per week for the entire year),written in English, French and Spanish, each of them illustrated with a series of portrait photographs. The whole thing will be published on a blog and in a book.

It’s our reflection on how the simple and ordinary moments of peoples’ lives are unusual and endearing to the eyes of others. It shows how the habits of each society go unnoticed making a culture unique.

The project is being funded on Kickstarter, crowdfunding website where people can support artistic projects by pledging whatever amount they want. Every dollar makes a big difference, and they only have three days to fully fund the project, else it doesn’t get funded. So don’t wait! Donate a couple bucks to see this amazing project become a reality, and please share this page to help spread the word!
