If you’re thinking of getting away from it all for a couple of days and exploring somewhere new, but only have time for a short city break, Italy could be right up your alley! Italy has so much to offer and it’s possible to get flights from within Europe at seriously cheap, knock-down prices these days, particularly if you book last minute.

Lively culture, amazing food and fabulous sightseeing opportunities; Italy has it all. And who could fail to be impressed by Italy’s rich history? Impress your friends with this bit of trivia about the meaning of tarot, for example: it stems from the Italian card game Tarocchini, which was hugely popular in the 17th century.

Where exactly in Italy you go depends on what sort of a city break you’re after, of course. If it’s a romantic getaway you’re planning then you really can’t go wrong with Venice. With its history, renowned art and picture-perfect moments at every turn, it’s no wonder that the entire city of Venice is a World Heritage Site.

Perhaps you want to soak up some serous history and culture – in that case Rome is the ideal destination in Italy. The historic center of Rome is a World Heritage Site and Rome is of course home to Vatican City (the smallest recognized independent state in the world).

For anyone looking for amazing architecture, fabulous food and lots of sightseeing opportunities, Milan is a great choice. The second largest city in Italy, Milan is renowned for its fashion, shopping and food, so save money on the flight and take plenty of spending money when you visit!

You don’t need to speak to a psychic by phone to realize that Italy has plenty to offer, and a variety of destinations to suit different tastes.

Where’s your favorite Italian city break destination? We’d love to know!
